· Bharatpur,
the eastern gate of Rajasthan, is situated between 26°
22' and 27° 83' North Latitude and between 76° 53'
and 78° 17' East Longitude. It is situated 100 meters
above the sea level. It is 184 km. away from Delhi in South-East.
The Northern border of the district is adjacent to the district
Gurgaon of the state Haryana, Eastern border is adjacent
to district Mathura, the Southern border is adjacent to
the district Agra of of the state of Uttar Pradesh and district
Dholpur of Rajasthan. It is adjacent to district Dausa in
South-West and district Alwar in the North-West. Bharatpur
is accessible by road from Agra (55 km. or 34 miles) and
Jaipur (185 km. or 115miles). It is 1,207 km. (750 miles)
from Mumbai on the broad-gauge line of the Western Railway.
Keoladeo National Park is a major tourist attraction in
the town. About 11 sq. km. area of the park is covered with
water. The area is rich with Kingfisher, Red Vented and
white cheeked Bulbuls, Babblers, Quails, Partridges, Sunbirds,
Sparrows and Parakeets which live in bushes and burrows.
The year round activity of the winged beauties has made
the park a pilgrimage for bird lovers and an ornithologist
delight. As the monsoons arrival birds from every part of
the country start pouring into the park. Migratory water-fowls,
including the pride of Keoladeo Siberian Cranes form the
indispensable part of Park .The population of City is 211355
souls as per Census 2001.
To improve infrastructure facilities in the city, proposals
for augmentation of Water Supply, Sewerage, etc. of worth
102.29 crores have been tentatively identified by line agency
concerned / District Administration. District Collector
is working for identifying the total likely investments
based on the priority work and deficiencies in the infrastructure
sectors in consultation with public representatives including
other infrastructure development work like solid waste management,
road connectivity, bridges, drainage and development of
water bodies work etc.

proposals for augmentation of Water Supply (Rs. 25.94 Crores),
Sewerage (Rs 61.30 Crores) Solid Waste management(Rs.0.50 Crores),
Social Infrastructure(Rs.2.35 Crores),Urban Drainage(Rs.8.58 Crores)
and heritage (Rs.0.50 Crores) has been identified by concerned
line agency / District Administration. Total cost is Rs. 141.98
Crores District Collector is working for identifying the total
likely investments based on the priority works and deficiencies
in the infrastructure sectors in consultation with public representatives
including other
infrastructure development works like
Solid Waste Management, road connectivity, Bridges,
Drainage and Development of Water Bodies works etc.
