Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is magnet to many from other parts of the state and outside because of the opportunities it offers and the facilities available here. Its population was 14.58 lakhs in the year 1991 which increased to 23.24 lakhs in 2001. Due to its size, a major chunk of investment under RUIDP is in Jaipur and includes the Bisalpur Jaipur water supply project which will provide assured drinking water supply for the city.
Water Supply Rehabilitation and Expansions Works

In order to provide water supply network in the colonies developed by housing societies, 10 packages are under implementation. The works are completed in Vaishali Nagar, Khatipura, Hanuman Nagar, Murlipura, Mahesh Nagar, Vidut Nagar, Nirman Nagar, Jhotwara, Kalyanagar, Jagatpura, Sanganer Airport and Maharani Farm areas & handed over to PHED. A population of about 3.85 lakhs people will be benefited by these works amounting Rs.61.09 crores.
Reorganization of existing water supply schemes
In order to provide water at adequate pressure to the residents of the city, water tanks are being constructed in Shastrinagar, Naya Kheda, Phus ka Bangla, Banipark Singhdwar and New Colony which will be connected to the city water supply system. Construction of these would optimize the water supply to meet requirements of the increasing population in these areas. The residents would get water at good pressure and in sufficient quantity.

Construction of Tube Wells
For increasing the water supply and supplying water to the uncovered
areas of housing co-operative societies, 190 tube wells have been constructed.
Work of transfer main for water scarcity areas
Work of transfer main has been completed from Kaveri Path in Mansarovar
to Shayam Nagar; from Mohan Nagar to Govind Nagar; from Malviya Nagar
sector 9 to Transport Nagar and from Shastri Nagar to Mohan Nagar, for
providing water to water scarcity areas.
Works on changing worn out Machinery
There are 52 functional pump houses in the city with 119 pump sets.
Out of these 64 pump sets in 31 pump houses are replaced at a cost of
about Rs.2.37 crores. Replacement of these 64 pump sets will result
in savings of Rs. 2 crores per annum in power consumption.
Bulk Meters & Domestic Meters
In the overhead tanks having a capacity of more than 10 lakhs liters,
60 bulk meters are installed. This would help find the difference of
the water being supplied and water billed to the consumers to reduce
non revenue water.

Sewerage Sector
Laying of sewer lines in colonies:
Geographically Jaipur is divided into northern and southern parts. In both areas work is being done in pre- identified areas by agencies like JDA, JMC, Housing Board, PHED and RUIDP ensuring that there is no duplication of works. In southern areas RUIDP is working in Himmat Nagar, Indira colony, Dev Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Mahaveer Nagar, Shriji Nagar, Imiliwala Phatak area, J.P. Colony, Madhuban Colony, Shakti Nagar, Amer area and Jhotwara under 5 packages. Out of 14 packages 13 packages completed , remaining in progress.
Work on one package of ward no. 21 has been completed and handed over to JMC. Out of 284.08 KM sewer line 283 Km sewer line laid and 255 km Sewer line handed over to JMC. In the remaining 4 areas work is under progress.
In the northern zone the areas covered are Shanker Nagar area, Ramgarh mod to Jaisinghpura Khor, Govind Nagar East, Auto Mobile Nagar; Surya Nagar and Amer town. An estimated population of 3.53 lakhs will be benefited. The work

of all the projects is under progress.
Property Chambers have been constructed outside the boundary wall of
houses so that the consumers can get sewer connections without road
cutting.
Sewage Treatment Plant
Two sewage plants have been taken up under RUIDP. The existing Sewage
Treatment Plant of 270 lakhs liters per day capacity on Amer road is
substaintially completed & commissioned. It would benefit the entire
population of the area and also reduce/ prevent the pollution of Jalmahal
Jheel. One new Sewerage Treatment Plant has been constructed in Sanganer
(Dhelawas) with likely cost of Rs. 14.06 crore. This STP will have a
capacity of treating 625 lakhs liters of sewage per day. STP Sanganer
(Dhelawas) completed and handed over to Nagar Nigam Jaipur.
Work of Property Connection
All the streets in the walled city of Jaipur have sewer lines but only
toilet waste was connected to sewer system and the sullage from bathrooms
and kitchen used to be let out in open drains crating unhygienic conditions.
Under RUIDP approximately 42,500 households of the walled city are being
connected to the sewer lines. This would ensure that all the streets,
even the narrow lanes and by lanes would be free from liquid waste flowing
in the open drains. This would help keeping the city clean and provide
a better quality of life to the citizens of the Jaipur.
Railway Over Bridges
There are many railway lines criss-crossing the city which forms physical barriers in the development of the city. The general public is facing lots of inconvenience at railway level crossings. The problem is further aggravated due to increase in population and numbers of vehicles on the road traffic congestion. In order to relieve this problem RUIDP is undertaking construction of railway over bridge on New Sanganer Road railway crossing, Hasanpura railway crossing, Durgapura railway crossing, and Khatipura railway crossing. Out of this Khatipura,Dalda factory, Sanganer railway crossing bridge have been inaugurated and opened to traffic. Work of the Hasanpura ROB is competed .
Widening and Strengthening of Roads
In order to improve the traffic management of the city and to improve the quality of roads to reduce congestion, pollution and vehicle operating costs, RUIDP has taken up the task of widening and strengthening of roads. The Delhi Bypass road from Transport Nagar Choraha to RAC HQ crossing has been converted to 4 lanes. From RAC HQ crossing to Karbala Road Junction, the road has been converted to 6 lanes and from Karbala Road Junction to Amer road Junction the road has been converted to 4 lanes. The Sikar road from Jhotwara Tiraha to C-zone Bypass the road is converted in to 8 lanes. 20 Kms Road completed.
Drainge
In order to streamline the drainage of Jaipur which causes flooding during rainy season; RUIDP has taken up works of renovation and rehabilitation works at Jawahar Nallah, Valmiki & Brahmpuri Nallah and Nagtalai drain. These works will ensure proper disposal of rain water and improve drainage system the city
Fire Fighting Service
In order to increase the coverage for fire fighting, reduce the response time and to provide better resources greater mobility of fire fighting services to cover the large area and population of Jaipur city against fire hazards, the fire fighting services of Jaipur are being strengthened by RUIDP. Two new fire stations have been constructed at Mansarovar and Sanganer area and 8 fire fighter vehicles have been procured and handed over to JMC. More fire fighting equipment is being provided to JMC.

Works renovation of Galta Gate, Sanganeri Gate, Chandpole Gate, Ajmeri Gate, New Gate, Varhi Gate, Kheri Gate, Kundlab Gate, Mathura Gate, Ghati Gate ,Jorawar Singh gate, Surajpole Gate, Ghat gate and Panna Meena Kund at Amer have been completed.
The work of renovation and preservation of the walls of Amer Fort, and near by areas, conservation of Sagar Lake edges in Amer; and surroundings is also completed.
The works will not only protect our rich heritage but will also provide help to increase tourism which will create more employment and opportunities for the residents of the city.
Solid Waste Management Sector
In order to improve solid waste management and provide better services to the residents of Jaipur, RUIDP is providing assistance to the Jaipur Municipal Corporation in way of providing equipment to JMC for proper handling, transportation and disposal of solid waste. One Bulldozer and 2 excavators machine has been made available to JMC. One electronic weigh bridge, garbage collection vehicle and containers are also made available to JMC.
Up Gradation of Medical Facilities
With the fast rate of population growth, Jaipur city is physically expanding on all sides. The excellent medical facilities available in Jaipur attract people from the entire state and neighboring states to hospitals in Jaipur resulting in overcrowding of hospitals causing inconvenience to the patients and increase in services pressure on the hospitals.
In order to reduce the strain on these hospitals and to provide better medical services to the citizens, construction work of OPD and operation theatres in SMS Hospital; Oncology and neonatal ward, extension of labour room, laundry and Kitchen at Zanana Hospital at Chandpol; OPD at Mahila Chikitsalaya, Sanganeri Gate, OPD and Operation Theater at J.K. Lone Hospital for children, have been taken up under RUIDP. The workof SMS is under progress. Works at Zanana Hospital and Mahila Chikitsalaya has been completed.
