Udaipur was found in the year 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh. It is called the city of Lakes. It has an important place in Tourism due to Pechola, Swaroop Sagar, Fatehe Sagar, Udaisagar lakes etc. Due to industrial & commercial development, historical and cultural importance city's population is increasing rapidly. In 1991 its population was 3.09 lakhs which increased to 3.89 lakhs in 2001. In order to solve the problem of drinking water, lack of cleanliness, polluted environment, mismanaged traffic system, RUIDP has initiated to build the infrastructure on these areas.


Water Supply Sector:

5 km Long Tunnel for Udaipur Water Supply

In order to provide proper water supply to the city of Udaipur under water supply sector in Udaipur 11 packages costing Rs. 62.15 Cr have been sanctioned and expenditure of Rs. 56.28 Cr has been incurred upto 25.09.2007. Under these packages RUIDP has taken up construction of 2 nos. WTP's of 13.35 MLD at Teetardhi & 23.35 MLD at Nandeshwar, 12 Elevated Reservoirs, 4 Clear Water Reservoirs, 55 Km distribution pipe lines, 58.80 Km rising mains. Out of these 13.5 MLD capacity filter plant, at Teetardhi has been fully commissioned and connected with the existing system. Commissioning of System at Teetardhi has increased water supply to Udaipur city and has also resulted on saving of power charges. Water supply from service reservoir at Ambamata, Badgaon, Bhuwana, Shobaghpura, Bedla, Kumbha Nagar, Town Hall, Keshav Nagar, Pahada, Pratap Nagar, Purohito Ki Haveli, Kanwarpada, Tekri, Panerion Ki Madri, Sector 11, & Eklavya Nagar has been started. Total 114.00 Km pipe line Distribution pipe line has been laid and all are connected & commissioned. Nandeshwer WTP is under trial run & is likely to be completed very soon..

Water Treatment Plant

Water treatment plant costing Rs. 324.62 lakh with a capacity of 13.5 MLD in Titerdi is in progress. Under this the work of clarifier water reservoir and filter unit work is under progress. The work of gravity rising main in Neemchmata & Tetardi Zone is under progress. Under this Bhuwana, Badgaon, Bedla, Shabaghpura and Sector 4, Sector 9, Sector 7, I.J. Block, Govardhan Vilas & Transport Nagar pipe line of 19.24km has been laid to fill water reservoir. The total cost of this project is 456.16 lakhs. Till now pipe of 16.5 km has been made available out of which 15.40 km work is complete and 11.5 km pipe line's testing is complete. The work of 23.5 MLD capacity water treatment plant is under progress in spite of being situated in mountains and 1 k.m. long approach road and difficult terain due to rock cutting. This project work of Purifoculator has been complete.

In Mansi Wakal zone from Nandeshwar to Dudtalai and in Jhamer Kotda zone 32.65 km pipe line has been laid to connect over head water reservoirs. Total cost of this work is Rs.1251.08 lakhs. 29.00 km. pipe line has been laid & complted .
Construction of over head water reservoir in Eklavya Nagar, Tekri, Paneryo ki Madhdi, Purohito ki Haweli, Sector 11 and Kavarpada school is to be done. In Pratap Nagar construction of ground water reservoir has also to be done The total cost of this project is Rs. 248.40 lakh. Work has been completed all above places.

Water is to be braught by a tunnel of Mansi Vakal from Devas canal's down stream to Undri Ghata. Work of 4.6 km long tunnel/concert line is competed. It will cost Rs.1662.88 lakhs. Under this 4 vertical shafts has to constructed, the work of 400 m tunnel of vertical shaft has been completed and the work of 2 shaft is competed.The work of construction of water reservoir in Kawarpada school has been competed. Work of laying of 8.5 km long pipe line having diameter of 800mm from Tunnel outlet to Nandeshwar Water Treatment Plant has been completed.

Road

The work of widening & improving road and construction of bridge is been done to solve the problem of traffic in Udaipur. " Works of construction of roads have been taken up in Udaipur under two packages UDA/ST/05 & UDA/ST/07 consisting of 13.91 Kms. has been completed and put to traffic. The expenditure incurred till date is Rs.1313.13 Lacs.

Bridge Sector

Ayad Bridge at Udaipur

Ayad bridge has been constructed from 2 lane to 4 lane which costed 203.74 lakh. The work of this Bridge has been completed and opened for traffic. The construction work of Sevashram ROB with a cost of Rs. 1065 lakhs is completed.

Drainage Sector

The total cost of Drainage & remodeling of Chikalwas Feeder is Rs. 438.00 lakhs. In this work construction of total 6.5 km drains and renovation work of 6.6 km. Madar canal which fills Fathesagar is likely to be completed by May 07. At present the work of 3500 mtr. Madar canal and 3600 mtr. Rain water drains have been completed.
